In the heart of the Dinaric Alps on the banks of the river Miljacka Sarajevo is the capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The old town with its oriental flair is centred on the “Baščarčija“ bazaar district. It was rebuilt after the war and with its narrow cobbled alleys, small houses and copper roofs is well worth a visit.
With its many theatres, museums and special events, such as the Sarajevo Film Festival or the “Baščaršijske noći" Jazz Festival, the city that hosted the 1984 Winter Olympic Games has much to offer for art and culture enthusiasts.
After a long day visiting the city and taking in the culture relax at the many cafés, such as the “Vinotekas” and “Pivnicas”.
